I had the pleasure of creating a custom built kichenette in a basement apartment. The clients were interested in something different. The space was limited so we decided on a counter with cabinets and drawers.

The first idea was just a painted plywood counter top. But I suggested using recycled lumber for a counter top. I actually love using recycled lumber in my projects. There is something very interesting in using 100 year old lumber.

All the cabinets were made of MDO plywood. The full extension drawers were made from poplar and all the drawers were made with dovetail joinery.

I finished the top with Tung oil.

The client wanted to use the pipe fittings for shelf brackets and dimensional lumber. The shelves are 2 x 10’s ripped to size.

It all came out very well and the clients were very happy.
